OPAL DIAMOND BUG BROOCH SILVER 18CT GOLD
This ingenious insect brooch has been cleverly fashioned in Silver and gilded in 18ct Yellow gold, with an array of approx. 2ct of Rose Cut Diamonds covering the bug’s body and wings. A pair of cabochon cut Sapphires serve as the creature’s eyes. Two wonderful Jelly Opals, totalling approx. 2.60ct, have been set on the back of the thorax and abdomen.
Jelly Opal is more transparent than regular opal, and has a gelatinous appearance that creates a more even colouration to the stones inner fire. This fire ranges from green to orange and shifts in the light as though alive.
The brooch’s wings and head are articulated in a lifelike fashion. The head is able to turn to the left or right, and look up or down, whilst the wings can lie flat along the side of the insect’s body or move forwards as though in flight.
This is an extremely interesting and cleverly constructed piece to be treasured.
