ANTIQUE VICTORIAN TURQUOISE SNAKE HEAD SNAPPER RUBY EYES 18CT GOLD CIRCA 1900
An exquisite antique Victorian snake head decorated with Turquoise stone scales and Ruby set eyes. The piece is a snapper clasp and was once part of a necklace with the detachable tongue forming one end of the clasp which slots into the mouth. Serpent jewellery was popular in Victorian times and represented love, loyalty and friendship coinciding with the full flowering of the Romantic Movement. The piece is all 18ct Yellow Gold with beautiful engraved patterning on the underside. This would look fabulous adoring a new necklace or re-purposed as a pendant or ring.
