ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SCOTTISH MALACHITE HORSESHOE BROOCH SILVER CIRCA 1860
This beautiful Malachite horseshoe brooch is a stunning example of Victorian craftsmanship.
The Horseshoe has long been a symbol of good luck and became a popular image in Victorian jewellery when there was an increase in superstition.
Malachite means Mallow-green stone, due to its resemblance to the leaves of the Mallow plant. The stone radiates the rich green allure of nature displaying the beauty of plants and trees within its patterned surface.
The piece has acquired a few hair line flaws in the stones but this is understandable given the age of the piece. It is a beautiful historic brooch to treasure.
