ANTIQUE VICTORIAN GARNET HORSESHOE LOCKET BROOCH 18CT GOLD GILT 7CT GARNETS CIRCA 1880
A wonderful Antique late Victorian Horseshoe locket brooch decorated with seven gorgeous violet Almandine Garnets which are approx. 1ct each.
Horseshoes have long been a symbol of good luck and became a popular image in Victorian jewellery when there was an increase in superstition.
The back of the piece opens up to reveal a large locket complete with rim and window to store a cherished photo of a loved on behind.
The piece is modelled in solid base Metal and given a pleasant 18ct Yellow Gold finish. It’s in excellent condition and fitted with a newer pin and safety catch which holds it more securely.
