ANTIQUE SCOTTISH VICTORIAN CAIRNGORM AGATE BROOCH SILVER CIRCA 1880
This beautiful Scottish Victorian brooch is crafted around a large Cairngorm, with rings of green and orange Agate radiating outwards.
The Cairngorm stones are sourced from the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland and have a lovely treacle coloured hue that glows like a dark Citrine.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
The piece is marked with a Scottish kite hallmark, and features engraved silverwork which holds the stones firmly in place. A fantastic piece steeped in history, and one to be treasured.
