This genuine antique Sterling Silver Paste pendant brooch is circa 1800.
The large old cut Paste stones are foiled back and genuine to the pendant brooch.
It has a closed backed gallery which was typical in the Georgian era.
The pendant dropper swings independently and this is 4.5ct in size alone.
This is a fabulous piece of Georgian jewellery.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass Pastes.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
This stunning piece is steeped with English history.
It would look beautiful when worn and perfect for that special occasion.
It weighs 9.9 grams.
The pendant brooch measures including loop and dropper 55mm down x 45mm across.
The Paste stone within the dropper measures 11mm down x 9mm across.
The surrounding Paste stones measure 6mm down x 6mm across.
This is in excellent condition.
