ASK A QUESTION PURCHASE

Georgian 18ct Gold Flat cut Garnet mourning brooch is Circa 1800.

Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.

It is adorned with a halo of 12 Flat cut Garnets.

The Garnet is a stone of purity and truth as well as a symbol of love and compassion.

Pearls can be seen surrounding the fancy plaited hair inside in the central window.

Pearls have a wonderful lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural.

Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one, a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death, a status symbol, especially during the Victorian Era.

All set in 18ct Gold.

A fabulous brooch that is steeped in history.

It weighs 10.8 grams.

The brooch measures 35mm x 30mm down.

Excellent condition all round.
