A Look At Princess Charlotte's Memorial Ring
If you've yet to see it; we've recently added one of the most stunning and rarest pieces which we've ever had for sale through Laurelle Antique Jewellery - Princess Charlotte's Memorial Ring.
Who Was Princess Charlotte?
Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales was the only child of King George the 4th and was born on 7th January 1796. Had Charlotte have outlived her Grandfather (King George III) and her father, she would have become Queen. Unfortunately, however, Princess Charlotte died on November the 6th 1817 at the age of just 21 during childbirth.
Following Charlotte's death, the country went into mourning. She really was the Princess Diana of her time and the nation spent two week's mourning, with shops closing and many linen-drapers even running out of black cloth. The response to the death of Charlotte truly showcased the effect which she had on the country and the awful circumstances surrounding her stillborn child and her death shortly after.
Only 52 Mourning Rings Commissioned
A total of 52 rings were commissioned following Charlotte's death for the Royal Family. To this date, these rings are a very rare find and one currently resides in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. We are proud to have one of these beautiful rings for sale as part of our collection of gorgeous antique rings. The ring is one of a very small number and is the perfect purchase for collectors of antique jewellery or those looking to add to their Royal collections. This is a truly collectable piece and one which we are proud to offer.
We have had the ring checked by 4 highly experienced antique dealers, all of whom have the highest level of knowledge on such pieces. The ring is still in a wearable condition and would make the perfect addition to any collection.
This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own such a special piece of English history and add to your collection a ring which is one of only a few still in existence.
