This stunning large butterfly brooch is adorned with sparkling black and white Paste Stones with French Jet pieces making up the body and head.
French Jet is a type of black glass used to simulate the beauty of Jet. It became popular during the Victorian period when black jewellery was very fashionable.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. White Pastes sparkle just like Diamonds and take expert craftsmanship to capture their beauty.
You can wear this as a brooch or use the loops on the back as a pendant.
The piece is set in White Metal and fitted with a sturdy pin and safety catch.
The butterfly is pre owned but in excellent condition, Circa 1970’s.
