An exquisite Antique mid-Victorian Pique brooch dated Circa 1860. The brooch is fashioned from Tortoise Shell and features a Pique bouquet of 18ct Gold and Silver flowers across the front haloed in a decorative border.
Tortoise shell was often used as a base for Pique jewellery which is a technique in which Gold or Silver is expertly inlaid into the material to form a decorative pattern or image.
This is a highly collectable piece of history and a true work of art. It has been beautifully preserved, and the workmanship is in excellent condition and intact.
