ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SCOTTISH SILVER AGATE BROOCH FELL ASLEEP IN JESUS DATED 1891
This fabulous antique Victorian Scottish Silver Agate brooch is dated 1891 and complete with an inscription on the reverse.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her trips to Scotland. From the mid 1800's Queen Victoria frequented Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral.
Beautiful plaid Agates chase around the circular brooch all set in Sterling Silver.
Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce.
Each Agate is unique with beautiful natural colouring and polished to perfection.
The brooch is fully hallmarked and complete with the inscription - C. E - Fell asleep in Jesus - April 22nd 1891.
The meaning of the quote - Fell asleep in Jesus - has many interpretations but the popular belief is that it suggests those who followed Jesus and have passed away are only spiritually asleep and will awake again in Heaven.
