This long antique French guard chain was crafted during the early 20th century and is made up of interlocking Sterling Silver links which have been gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold.
The links depict a series of lover’s knots which have long been a symbol of love, loyalty and friendship and symbolise an everlasting bond that is unbreakable and forever entwined.
The chain is complete with a ring clasp at the end which may have been used to attach a locket or a cylinder of fur known as a Muff to keep the wearers hands warm in winter.
It is a high-quality piece and can be worn as one long chain or wrapped twice around the neck.
