ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HARDSTONE CAMEO PEARL BROOCH PENDANT 18CT GOLD CIRCA 1860
A rare Antique Cameo brooch/ pendant from the mid Victorian era set with a spectacular Hardstone Cameo depicting the side profile of a beautiful lady with ringlets and a necklace. The detail across the cameo is breath taking and hand carved by a true master of the art.
Cameos have been carved since ancient times and saw a revival during the Victorian era due to Queen Victoria’s fascination with the pieces. Hardstone was often used as a base for Cameos due to its strong, durable qualities that take expert skill to carve.
The frame is equally beautiful and made from 18ct Yellow Gold which has developed a lovely rosy hue with age. It features wonderful ornate patterning, delicate golden leaves and four Pearls.
It’s one of the finest Cameos we’ve ever exhibited and highly collectable. It’s complete with a strong pin and bale so that it can be worn as a pendant or brooch.
We recommend you insure for £4,250, We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
