An unusual antique Victorian Scottish brooch C.1860, set with lovely natural Agates which are cut to fit the brooches unique twisted design.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.
Agate has been nicknamed the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce. Each Agate is unique with beautiful natural colouring and polished to perfection.
The piece is set in Silver and has an engraved date of 25/04/48 on the reverse though this will have been added from a later owner of the piece.
