This wonderful antique 18ct Gold Gilt Cameo brooch is genuine Victorian Circa 1860.
The beautiful brooch boasts a splendidly carved Bullmouth Shell Cameo in the centre depicting the profile of a young woman.
Cameo’s have been carved since ancient times with the most popular motif for a cameo being the profile of a woman. The fabulous Bullmouth Shell is a common base for Cameo carvings for it’s beautiful natural patterning which takes expert skill to carve.
The Cameo is displayed on a beautifully engraved Victorian knot Gallery, set in 18ct Gold Gilt on Base Metal.
Complete with a secure pin and C catch.
Purchased in London and steeped in English history.
Looks beautiful when worn, a unique piece of Victorian history.
