This fabulous Victorian crescent brooch is set in Sterling Silver.
Circa 1900.
Beautiful Bristol blue coloured Paste Stones adorned with white Paste Stones which sparkle just like Diamonds in the lovely crescent.
The Victorians became fascinated in astronomy during the Victorian period and crescents and moon jewellery started being made.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones.
The Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass Pastes.
Fully hallmarked on the reverse STERLING and makers mark F.W.H.
The brooch is complete with a closed back Silver gallery, original pin and c catch.
Steeped in English history and purchased in London.
This is quite a large brooch and looks fabulous on a lapel.
It weighs 11 grams.
Measures 8cm in length x 0.5cm in width.
The pin measures 5.5cm in length.
The largest central Paste measures 6mm x 6mm.
Excellent all round condition.
